Growing up in the family restaurant in Paris gave Guy Buffet a lot of ideas to work with. Even though he lost his father at a young age, his mother encouraged him to become an artist.

She enrolled Guy in the Ecole de Beaux Arts de Toulon at the age of 14. He later continued on to L'Academie de Peinture de la Ville de Paris. In 1961 he was stationed by the French Navy on on a cruiser which gave him opportunity for shows in every port worldwide.

Guy Buffet divides his time between Maui and Paris. He has had numerous exhibitions around the world. His artwork has been used in many advertising campaigns, such as Absolut Vodka, Tour de France and Champagne Perrier-Jouet.
