Capturing the Splendor

Born in the Spanish capital Madrid, as far away from the ocean as one can get on the Iberian Peninsula. Few could have imagined that this son of a classical musician would grow up to become one of the most prolific seascape artists of the century. However, the source of Casay's maritime fascination can probably be traced back to the artist's childhood, and the endless hours spent on the Spanish coastline while vacationing with his family.

The Casays moved to Mexico when young Anthony was only eight years old. The move provided ample opportunity to explore his creative powers at an early age. A child actor, a budding painter, a rock musician, a television producer – but it was his degree in Diplomatic and Political Science that brought him to the United States.

A position at the Consular General of Mexico in Los Angeles, California forced Casay to fulfill his artistic desires at night. It proved to be hard to keep his day job, though. His seascapes created such a stir that he eventually had to give up his consular career to paint full time. Before long he was in high demand by noted collectors nationwide.

Mostly self-educated in art, Casay studied the Old Masters to acquire their craft and for inspirational guidance. He started honing his skills on miniature painting, to then quickly move on to develop his own style. That style is so unique that Anthony Casay is now considered the Master, and the object of study, for the next generation aspiring artists.
