Star of India Departing Maui

Bound for California, November 23, 1900

Active in the sugar trade during the early years of the last century, the Star of India has survived for over 100 years and is today the main attraction at the San Diego Maritime Museum.

The original painting, in fact, was commissioned by the Museum and was the featured work at Raymond Massey's one man show, which was held aboard the ship in 1995.
