BEAUTY, GRACE, AND SENSITIVITY

DAVID OVERBY graduated from Southern Illinois University with a major in radio and television, and a minor in drafting. However, his drafting skills were so well developed that he paid for his college tuition working as a part-time draftsman.

Twenty-five years as a cinematographer allowed Overby to hone his composition skills and gave him a well developed eye for detail.
In 1996 David Overby transitioned from cinematography to neo-classical Asian art, which provided him opportunity to pursue his passion for the Eastern cultures. He was inspiration and refined his art by practicing the style of classical Japanese and Chinese artists.

David's goal is to capture the traditional beauty, grace, and sensitivity of the Far East - their costumes and people. His work is a balance of ancient Eastern techniques and modern Western ideas. The strict attention to detail and vibrant color palette, that conveys a contemporary style, places David in a class of his own.

David Overby's original pieces are also available as giclées on archival paper.
