Hawaii's Most Beloved Folk Artist
Curious
cows, mischievous mynah birds and a delegation of red-footed
boobies... Welcome to the lighthearted kingdom of Hawaii's
most colorful folk-artist, Rosalie Rupp Prussing.
With
a gentle stroke of whimsy and a never-ending flow of imagination,
Rosalie has painted the island scene for more than one quarter
of a century. At the age when most people are long since retired,
Rosalie continues to maintain a hectic pace as she travels
several times a year and paints nearly every day.
A
grandmother and former fabric designer, who has won numerous
awards, Rosalie keeps her work fresh and lively by avoiding
anything that's too serious. "If I can't cheer people up,
then it's no fun," Rosalie explains.
